About us

Bridge Street was designated as a Conservation Area in 1989. In 2017, the Council was advised that the area was on Historic England's At-Risk Register due to 'dilapidation and loss of detailing'.

Since then, local residents, businesses and the Parish Council have been working together to regenerate the area and realise a vision of a 'vibrant, well maintained place to work' celebrating, preserving and enhancing the waterway, as well as the historic character and architectural heritage of the area.

Improvements to date include:

  • Developing a community green space on Bridge Place Corner
  • New benches
  • Sowing wildflowers and clearing overgrown areas and pathways
  • Installing a new noticeboard, gateway and heritage road signs
  • Refurbishment of the footbridge over the Fossdyke Canal
  • Replacement of the bus shelter on Queensway

As the project continues to move forward, we need your help to raise funds for the final stages of the regeneration.

For more information on our ongoing priorities, please visit the Saxilby Parish Council website.
