About us
Lincolnshire Brain Tumour Support Group (LBTSG) provides a much loved and valued service for any patients their family/carers diagnosed with a Primary Brain Tumour either Benign or Malignant living in Lincolnshire and/or treated at United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust.
My name is Joanna Hillier and I'm Treasurer of LBTSG, In May 2011 At the age of 40 I was diagnosised with a Grade II Meningioma and quickly learned that support was not available within the County. When I was appoached by my Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2013 and asked if i would be interested in a support group i was and am still delighted that i am well enough to be involved and give a little bit back.
A Brain Tumour diagnosis is devastaing for the patient and their loved ones, often causing a feeling of isolation, frustration and fatigue amongst many others..due to the nature of this illness your driving licence will also be taken for a minimum of 12 months thus intensifying these feelings.
At LBTSG we offer a warm, welcoming environment where patients can chat to each other and draw from their own experience. We will arrange and pay for any transport that is required to get a patient to and from any of our meetings/outings, on occassion we may have to pay for venues and we will always provide some light refeshments. We also arrange outings, bus trips, speakers both medical and non and entertainment. We always try to make our meetings informative and fun where possible.
Brain Tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer and is woefully underfunded.
Please help us to continue to offer support in Lincolnshire and provide help to all our patients and their families by joining the Lincoln Lottery.
Many Thanks for your support and good luck!
Yours sincerely
Joanna x
