Lincoln Community Lottery awards additional £6,500 to Covid crisis fund

05 November 2020

A donation of £6,500 from the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund has been awarded to the City of Lincoln Covid-19 Crisis Fund to help frontline and voluntary groups supporting the most vulnerable, isolated and disadvantaged residents in Lincoln during the pandemic.

The crisis fund, which was launched by the Lincolnshire Community Foundation in April 2020, is providing financial assistance to local charities and community groups working to deliver essential support to families and individuals facing hardship due to Covid-19. To date £16,000 has been distributed to nine groups supporting the provision of food, mental health advice and support and community engagement activities.

The £6,500 from the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund is in addition to the £5,000 awarded to the crisis fund in April 2020.

Cllr Rosanne Kirk, Portfolio Holder for Reducing Inequality, said: “Local charities and community groups in and around the city have been severely impacted by Covid 19. This award will continue to help these great causes to deliver vital services during this difficult time. I would like to thank all supporters of the lottery for making this award possible.”

Sue Fortune, CEO at Lincolnshire Community Foundation, said: “During times of crisis it has been essential for organisations to work together to share knowledge and resources to target support where it will have the most impact. This donation from Lincoln Community Lottery will help meet some of the unmet needs within our communities who are experiencing hardship due to the pandemic.”

The award follows a joint decision by the Lincoln Lottery Member Panel. Any local charities and community groups wishing to benefit from this award are encouraged to contact Sue Fortune at the Lincolnshire Community Foundation for further information on the City of Lincoln Covid-19 Crisis Fund and how to apply before 19 November. Previous applications are welcome to reapply as long as funding will be used for a new project.
